Stonewin supports Danish Anti-Piracy Operation in the Gulf of Guinea

Stonewin has provided support to Denmark’s anti-piracy operation in the Gulf of Guinea by fuelling the Esbern Snare frigate off the shore of Ghana with a commercial bunkering tanker. Stonewin’s support enabled the complex operation for 450 cbm Gasoil was completed within 4.5 hours from first line to unmooring, allowing it to continue without losing valuable time. The mission is a reminder why Stonewin, which has been a fuel contractor to defence institutions around the world since 2015, is the preferred choice for more than 30 naval government partners.

In addition to servicing the Danish Navy, Stonewin uses its logistics expertise in partnerships with the Defense Logistics Agency Energy (DLA-E) and NATO’s Support & Procurement Agency (NSPA) with long term contracts covering the marine requirements in North West Europe, Caribbean, North and South America, West and Southern Africa. These commitments cover over 300 ports.

Esbern Snare has been dispatched as a purely Danish contribution to the Anti Piracy Operation, but the frigate will cooperate with regional coastal naval units as well as international partners from Italy, England, France and Portugal. Denmark’s anti-piracy operation in the Gulf of Guinea will include operational co-operation as well as extensive intelligence sharing aimed at eliminating the threat of piracy in the region. Esbern Snare’s 120-man crew is supported on its three-month mission by 60 external experts from Denmark’s Air Force, Military Police, Intelligence Regiment and Special Forces.
